Year End Concert – 2014

The main highlight for this term is the End of Year Concert which will be held in Week 9. The full details are:

Date: Sunday, 7 December 2014

Time: 2.00 – 3.30 pm

Venue: Walker Street Gallery Arts Centre,
            Peforming Arts Theratre,
Corner Walker and Robinson Streets, Dandenong Vic 3175

I would appreciate it if all parents can take note of this important date and time, so that as many students as possible will be able to perform on the day.  As with past formal concerts, each student will perform a solo piece and a duet piece with a partner.

Music Of The Month – Oct 2014

The Romantic Era
The Romantic Era

During the Romantic period from 1820 to 1900, composers were more concerned with individual expression than with formal structures. The music was thus seen to be less restrained and more passionate.  At the same time, there was an interest in nationalism with composers like Chopin and Liszt using the folk music traditions of their homeland. Other notable Romantic composers include Brahms, Wagner, Schubert, Schumann, Mendelssohn, Berlioz, Fauvre, Paganini, Verdi, Strauss and Tchaikovsky.

Music Sheets:

1.  Blue Danube (Easy)

2.   Unfinished Symphony (Easy)

Term 4 Updates

Traditionally, Term 4 is always the busiest time for the studio, and this year is no different. A number of students will be sitting for their practical examinations in the coming weeks. Many students are aiming to complete their 40-piece Challenge. Plus the Music of the Month series will continue with students learning about Romantic Era Music in October, Rock Music in November and, of course, Christmas Music in December.
