Ragtime music
Otherwise known simply as rag, this genre was made popular by American composer, Scott Joplin, in the 1890s. It has a unique syncopated rhythm that creates a ‘ragged’ effect, hence its name. One of the most famous rag tunes is Joplin’s ‘The Entertainer’, which was the theme song of the classic movie, ‘The Sting’.
